Unlike America and other countries, here in Germany there is no one source of real estate listings that offers a Multiple Listing Service and cooperation among Brokers. This can be both puzzling and confusing for those of us that are accustomed to a more consumer friendly system.

The facts are that agents and brokers in Germany are not professionally licensed and the agency relationships are completely different. Hello, my name is Terry Perez and I would like to give a BIG thanks to Jeff and his lovely wife Manu for assisting my family on its recent relocation to the Big Island of Hawaii.

First, allow me to reveal a little bit of my background.  We (My wife Yu Chong, daughter Veronica and I) retired from the military in the summer of 2008 after 24 years of service.  To say we were eager to finally settle down is an understatement.  My final assignment was in Honolulu however I had found employment after retirement on the Big Island, which meant we had roughly six months to find a house.  We had the budget to fly from Oahu to the Big Island for two, maybe three weekends to go house hunting prior to retiring.  So time (and money) was very precious.  Regrettably, we had contacted another realtor on our first trip to the Big Island and I must say it ended in a disaster.  After a miserable weekend of house hunting we boarded the plane to return to Oahu more confused and no closer to finding a house than when we arrived.  What a waste.

Back in Oahu, frustrated, we surfed the web and found a great real estate website and house that was advertised on YouTube.  The realtor/host was Manu Spaur.  Initially, we loved the house, but more than that was Manu’s infectiously positive personality and passion for her work.  Immediately we called and set an appointment with Jeff and Manu at their office in Pahoa.  Upon arriving at their office in Pahoa we noticed everything was first class.  First class?  How about Jeff presenting house listings on a huge screen TV that basically gave us a walk through without leaving the office.  Jeff knew our time was limited so his knowledge of the area was incredible and he tackled every question professionally and accurately.  Manu’s enthusiasm and graciousness to my family was incredible.  At the conclusion of this house hunting weekend we felt very comfortable that we would indeed find a place before I retired.

Then I dropped the bombshell on Jeff and Manu.  We wanted to purchase and close on a house in 3 months.  And to add to that drama, it would financed with a VA loan.  (This is unheard of in Hawaii!)

To make a long story short, that is exactly how long it took from start to finish, three months!  This is due in large part to the urgency Jeff and Manu put into our purchase.  Jeff and Manu found us a beautiful, brand new cedar house with land in Keaau Hawaii and we did not go over budget!  It is not only a house, it is our dream.  Everything we had requested was fulfilled.  Jeff and Manu even found my family beautiful temporary quarters during my transition to the Big Island.  For a time, I could say they were our relocation counselors.  I cannot explain how thankful we are to have found Jeff and Manu as our Realtors.  In fact they are more than realtors, I am proud to say they now are our friends!

Anyone searching for a house or even just curious about the market cannot go wrong with Jeff and Manu!  They definitely put 110% into finding that special place that you want.  I would hate to think what our housing outcome would be if we had not contacted them.
